Climbing the Ladder at MBK

Holyoke, MA — Meyers Brothers Kalicka, P.C. is proud to announce four promotions: Susan Stebbins, CPA to Senior Manager; Lisa White, CPA to Senior Manager; Joseph LeMay, CPA to Manager; and Kara Graves, CPA to Employee Benefit Plan Niche Leader.

Susan Stebbins, CPA

Susan, who has been with MBK since 1997, focuses on taxation. In her new position, she will be preparing and reviewing returns, as well as managing several professionals within the firm’s taxation department. Specializing in taxation for individuals and trusts, Susan brings a practical approach to problem solving.   She believes in prompt responses to clients and providing exceptional customer service.  


A CPA licensed in Massachusetts and Maryland, she is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  Susan holds a B.S. in Accountancy from Bentley University. 


Lisa White, CPA | MBK

Lisa White, CPA

With over 20 years of public accounting experience, Lisa focuses primarily on federal and state income-tax compliance and planning within the construction and real-estate industries.  In her new role as a senior tax manager, White will have continue to mentor staff as well as manage the delivery of services directly to many clients. “I believe in developing partnerships with clients, ensuring they have access to the materials, information, and business acumen they need to make and implement the best financial decisions on a short- and long-term basis,” she noted.


White holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Middle Tennessee State University and is a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Public Accountants. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in both Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. In 2011, she was named among the 40 Under 40: Members to Watch by the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs.


Josephy LeMay, CPA, CVA | MBK

Joseph LeMay, CPA, CVA

Joe joined MBK in 2015 and works with organizations throughout Western Massachusetts in industries such as manufacturing, distribution, health care and other service organizations. In his new role as a manager, LeMay will manage a team in the firm’s Accounting and Auditing department. In addition, he leads initiatives to provide the department with tech updates, serves as a mentor in the firm’s formal mentorship program, and is the leader for the firm’s wellness program.  His strong work ethic, technical knowledge, and excellent communication skills will be a key component of his leadership.  


“My approach to customer service is to be available, helpful and to be a resource.  I will go the extra mile to get things done in timely fashion, and with quality.  My line of communication is always open so that clients and team members always know that they can reach me when they need assistance.” 


Joe received his Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Westfield State University and a Master’s in Accountancy from Westfield State University. Joe is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Valuation Analyst in the state of Massachusetts and is a member of the AICPA and the MSCPA.  When out of the office, Joe enjoys exercising, hiking, drinking coffee and eating with his wife, Marie.  



Kara Graves, CPA | MBK

Kara Graves, CPA

Kara, who has been with MBK since 2011, specializes in Employee Benefit Plans and Commercial Audits.  In her new position, she will be overseeing all of the plans, scheduling teams and field work, researching changes on standards for pension audits, implementing any necessary updates, and facilitating training and annual planning for pension audits.  With over 14 years of experience in accounting and auditing, Graves brings incredible value to her team and clients.


“I strive to be a trusted advisor for my clients.  I want my clients to feel like they are my top priority and that begins with being available and responsive.  I’ve had many clients for close to 10 years, and when I go to their offices, I feel like one of them.   I value the relationships that I have nurtured with them over the years,” she reflected.   


Kara is a licensed CPA in Massachusetts and holds a Bachelor’s of Accountancy from Roger Williams University and an Master’s of Accountancy from Western New England University. She is a member of the MSCPA and CPAmerica. Kara serves on the audit committee for the United Way of Hampshire County. Outside of work, she enjoys snowboarding, Pure Barre and spending time with friends and family.  Graves resides in Florence with her boyfriend, Girard, and son, Jakaiah.

February 7, 2025 FinCEN will consider changes to the BOI reporting requirements if a court grants the government's request for a stay of a nationwide injunction in a Texas case, according to a motion filed Wednesday, February 5th. If the stay is granted, FinCEN will extend BOI filing deadlines for 30 days, the government said in its filing in Samantha Smith and Robert Means v. U.S. Department of the Treasury, No. 6:24-CV-336 (E.D. Texas 1/7/25). BOI reporting is currently voluntary, pending further legal developments. Businesses and stakeholders should stay alert for additional updates as the situation evolves
